What is Grating Flooring?
Grating flooring (also known as galvanized steel grating or grating panels) is a type of floor formed from load-bearing steel bars (bearing bars) arranged in parallel and twisted square steel bars (cross bars) perpendicular to each other, creating a grid-like structure.

These steel bars are linked together by welding or pressure-locking methods. To form a complete floor surface, the panels are connected to each other using grating clips.

Common Types of Grating Today
Grating mesh flooring comes in many different types, classified based on material, structure, and load-bearing capacity. Below are the 4 main types:
Galvanized Steel Grating
This is the most popular type, made from carbon steel and hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance. Galvanized steel has high durability, good load-bearing capacity, and a reasonable price, suitable for many industrial and construction applications.

Stainless Steel Grating (Inox)
Made from stainless steel, it has excellent corrosion resistance, especially in chemical or acidic environments. Stainless steel grating is often used in food processing plants, pharmaceuticals, laboratories, etc.
Plastic Grating Panels (FRP)
Made from composite material (fiberglass reinforced plastic), it is lightweight and easy to transport and install. FRP grating panels have good corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, and heat insulation, often used in marine, oil and gas, or chemical environments.

Aluminum Grating
Made from aluminum, it is lightweight, has good corrosion resistance, and a shiny surface. Aluminum grating is often used in projects requiring high aesthetics such as commercial centers, airports, stations, etc.
Outstanding Advantages of Grating Panels
Grating mesh flooring possesses many outstanding advantages, making it the optimal flooring solution for many projects:
High Durability and Excellent Load Capacity
✅ Made from high-strength steel, the floor surface can withstand heavy loads and has good impact and wear resistance.
✅ Withstands harsh weather conditions such as sun, rain, wind, and storms.
✅ High lifespan with minimal maintenance or replacement needed, helping to save costs.
Anti-slip and Safe
✅ The floor surface often features raised ribs or serrations to increase friction and effectively prevent slipping, ensuring safety for users, especially in wet or greasy environments.

Fast Drainage and Dust Resistance:
✅ The open mesh structure allows water and liquids to drain quickly, preventing water from pooling on the surface, which limits slip hazards and dirt accumulation.
✅ Minimizes the risk of fire and explosion in flammable environments.
Ventilation and Good Lighting:
✅ The mesh structure allows light and air to circulate easily, creating a ventilated and bright space, reducing stuffiness.
Easy Installation and Maintenance:
✅ Simple structure and lightweight design make it easy to transport and install, saving construction time and effort.
✅ Does not require complex maintenance; only needs periodic cleaning with water or standard cleaning solutions.
Cost-effective:
✅ Reasonable price with low installation and maintenance costs.
✅ High durability means fewer replacements, ensuring long-term savings.
Aesthetics:
✅ Available in various designs, sizes, and colors, making it easy to choose a style that fits the project’s design.
Environmentally Friendly:
✅ Grating mesh flooring can be disassembled and reused in different projects, contributing to environmental protection and resource savings.
Thanks to these advantages, grating is widely applied in many fields, from industry and construction to agriculture and transportation, bringing high economic efficiency and safety.
Applications
In Industry
Forklift ramps with grating surfaces are essential equipment in warehouses and factories where goods need to be moved onto transport vehicles like trucks and containers.

Grating panels for operating platforms and walkways: Provides a sturdy, safe surface for workers to move and work, especially in high-humidity, oily, or chemical environments.
Raised floors and equipment covers: With its high load capacity, the product is used as raised flooring to protect equipment and machinery from dirt, water, and external impacts.
Stair treads and guardrails: Galvanized steel grating is an ideal choice for industrial stairs and protective walkways, offering safety and high durability.
In Construction
Ensures safety and adds aesthetic value to outdoor and wet spaces, providing fast drainage and slip resistance for:
- Balconies and playgrounds
- Basement floors and pool decks
- Decorative flooring and stair treads
In Agriculture
- Maintains livestock cage hygiene; easy to clean with good drainage, creating a ventilated environment for animals.
- Used as greenhouse flooring to help water drain quickly, preventing waterlogging and creating favorable conditions for planting and care.
With its high and diverse applicability, grating mesh is increasingly used in many fields, contributing to the efficiency and safety of projects.
Grating Quote
The price of grating panels depends on many factors such as material, load capacity, order quantity, and most importantly, the dimensions of the grating panels. The price for steel grating is usually calculated per square meter or per kilogram, depending on the size and thickness of the panel.
| Grating Type | Thickness (mm) | Dimensions (mm) | Price (VND/m2) |
| Galvanized Steel | 3 | 30×30 | 500,000 – 700,000 |
| Galvanized Steel | 5 | 30×30 | 700,000 – 900,000 |
| Galvanized Steel | 3 | 40×40 | 600,000 – 800,000 |
| Galvanized Steel | 5 | 40×40 | 800,000 – 1,000,000 |
| Inox 304 | 3 | 30×30 | 1,500,000 – 1,800,000 |
| Composite (FRP) | 3 | 30×30 | 1,200,000 – 1,500,000 |
Conclusion
With outstanding advantages in durability, safety, drainage, and aesthetics, grating (galvanized steel grating) is the optimal solution for every project, from industry and construction to agriculture.
